Chasidey Ricks-Green grew up in East Orange, New Jersey and joined the Army in 2008. She served in the Army for 12 years before medically retiring in 2021. Throughout her tenure in the Army, she has served as an, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Specialist, an Army Instructor, and a Drill Sergeant. Her civilian Education includes a certification in Medical Assisting, Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, a Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and she is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Public Administration. Although she has formal education in many fields, her true passion is education early learners. She dreams of becoming an early childhood educator and will be pursuing a master’s degree in early childhood education no later than January of 2023.
Although she as achieved many accolades in the military and in the civilian world the most important title is Mom. She and her husband met in Texas during her first enlistment, and they have three children; Kiersten who is 9, Ashton who is 6, and Avery who is 1. Her passion for education was derived from developing personalized at home curriculum for her children.
Chasidey is also a small business owner. She is the founder of Green Hair Magic LLC which features natural hair oils and whipped creams that support the skin hair and scalp. She is the process of publishing a book titled FUNdamentals, which is designed to help early learners read. FUNdamentals are scheduled to hit the shelves in the summer of 2022.
She knows that she could not have achieved any of these things without guidance. She always thanks the East Orange Police Athletic League’s female mentorship program led by Wanda Jones for guidance.
One of her favorite quotes are ‘Keep your eye on the birdie”. Her father would say this to her, and it meant to focus on what you want, you will see 1000 things in picture but if the birdie is what you want, that where your focus on that.
